About

There are a lot of animals out there, and a lot of them are odd.

Whether it’s an armadillo that’s pink and fluffy, or a killer fish with green bones, the wild is full of weirdos that need our love and attention too.

So welcome to Odd Organisms, a website to help you discover some of these oddballs and to appreciate them nonetheless. All the science comes from peer reviewed journal articles, so rest assured nothing you’re reading is made up, or taken from a sketchy website.

Look to your right to choose a category, read popular and recent posts or simply scroll down the home page.

But be prepared because it’s going to get a little… odd.

      • Haha it is! I really enjoy it 🙂 Woah primatology, that sounds super interesting as well. Do you have a favourite primate? I love the pygmy marmoset haha, and gibbons too!

      • I love great apes, especially orangutans! I hope to do my research for my phd on orangutans, but this summer I’ll be traveling to Sierra Leon to study chimpanzees 🙂 marms are cute. And who doesn’t love a gibbon!!! I love white handed gibbons bc of their sexual dichromaticism, mostly because I love saying sexual dichromaticism 😉

  2. Love your blog and the way you write 🙂 Blogs like yours can be a great little boost for your resume and an excellent demonstration that you can walk the walk as well as deal with theory of science communication. What level are you studying at?

    • Aw thanks Belinda! I definitely agree, this blog actually helped me get one of my current jobs which is writing a newsletter for a company.

I’m still just an undergrad but this is my last year, i’m still deciding whether to take it further, we’ll have to see haha.

Thanks again for the kind words! Can I ask what you do? I really liked your writing too!

Thanks for reading and for the kind words 🙂 I know, there are so many weird animals it’s always overwhelming trying to decide what to write about – so definitely feel free to suggest something if you ever come across an oddity 😉
